I've always found solace in playing guitar solos and I hope you do too. 

From my basic music lessons on a couple instruments I self-taught myself lead guitar just by finding the notes and using some common sense. Anyone can do it!

To develop a natural technique you just need to play a little each day. When you can pick up your guitar and play a solo, it makes practicing technique easy, because you don't even have to think about it. Just do whatever is natural for you, to try to articulate the solo phrasing as it is supposed to sound. With striving and repetition the technique will come. As a young guitarist, all my technique evolved naturally, as I just played everyday to discover how to play these solos and perform them in my cover band.
